Located in the extreme south of bahia, caraiva is a fishermen village surrounded by a calm river that divides civilization from primitive living. Crossing these waters, miles of white sands of natural beauties, protected by the APA (Environment protected Area) Trancoso – Caraiva and by the RESEX, caraiva is an isolated paradise of cliffs, coconut palmtress, clear water and untouched beaches.
Cars and motocycles are not allowed in the village, the streets are of sand and the only ways of moving around are by feet or by small animal pulled carts.
To move around the beaches, indian village, fishermen village and all the surprises that this small part of Bahia offers you, you will have to walk a lot, ride horses and use boats, so forget urban habits or lazyness.
Our fascinating beaches to the north are deserted, 2 miles for from the village, satu beach carries the name of a nice native gentleman, a story teller that will tell you where the two freshwater lagoons by the beach are, from there you can get to the mirror beach (praia do espelho) elected in 2009 as the 3 ª most beautiful beach of Brazil, with amazing coral reefs. Curuipe, Joacema and Barra velha are also very nice beaches to visit.
